Level
3 Certificate in First Line Management
This
qualification is for individuals who are likely to become first line managers
(team leaders or supervisors) or who are already in post and have had
little or no formal training.
Candidates
may be working in almost any environment; factories, offices, hospitals,
call centres, building sites, shops, leisure centres, the armed forces
etc. Wherever people and resources are employed, first line managers with
an ILM First Line Management Qualification will ensure that they are employed
effectively.
The
ILM Level 3 Certificate in First Line Management covers the full range
of responsibilities of the first line manager and can be tailored to fit
specific needs. The Certificate develops leaders and managers within the
national qualifications framework. It consists of 120 guided learning
hours which is normally run over one year but can take up to a maximum
of two. The learning hours include a 2 hour induction, 4 hours one-to-one
support and 20 one-day workshop sessions (the workshop sessions can be
substituted with open/distance learning materials if required). Personal
Development and Generic Management Skills are integral parts of the course.
Assessment
consists of a work-based assignment, change management report and short
unit assignments. Successful candidates will be awarded the ILM Level
3 Certificate in First Line Management and a minimum of 20 credits.
There
are no formal entry requirements, but candidates should be practising
or potential first line managers with two years full-time (or three years
part-time) work experience, and a background which will enable them to
benefit from the programme.
