Level
3 Diploma in First Line Management
This
qualification is for individuals who are likely to become first line managers
(team leaders or supervisors) or who are already in post and have had
little or no formal training.
Candidates
may be working in almost any environment; factories, offices, hospitals,
call centres, building sites, shops, leisure centres, the armed forces
etc. Wherever people and resources are employed, first line managers with
an ILM First Line Management Qualification will ensure that they are employed
effectively.
The
ILM Level 3 Diploma in First Line Management covers the full range of
responsibilities of the first line manager and can be tailored to fit
specific needs. The Diploma develops leaders and managers within the national
qualifications framework. It consists of 220 guided learning hours which
is normally run over one year but can take up to a maximum of three. The
learning hours include a 2 hour induction, 7 hours one-to-one support
and 35 one-day workshops (the workshop sessions can be substituted with
open/distance learning materials if required). Personal development and
generic management skills are integral parts of the course.
Assessment
consists of a work-based assignment, change management report , innovation
report, presentation and short unit assignments. Successful candidates
will be awarded the ILM Level 3 Diploma in First Line Management and a
minimum of 37 credits.
There
are no formal entry requirements, but candidates should be practising
or potential first line managers with two years full-time (or three years
part-time) work experience, and a background which will enable them to
benefit from the programme.
