Level 3 Award in First Line Management

This qualification is for individuals who are likely to become first line managers (team leaders or supervisors) or who are already in post and have had little or no formal training.

Candidates may be working in almost any environment; factories, offices, hospitals, call centres, building sites, shops, leisure centres, the armed forces etc. Wherever people and resources are employed, first line managers with an ILM First Line Management Qualification will ensure that they are employed effectively.

The course is short and flexible and consists of 34 guided learning hours which can run over 6 consecutive days or over a longer period up to a maximum of 1 year. The learning hours include a short induction, one-to-one tutorial support and 10 three hour workshops covering a range of subjects including; Solving Problems and Making Decisions.

Assessment consists of a work-based assignment and short unit assignments. Successful candidates will be awarded the ILM Level 3 Award in First Line Management and a minimum of 5 credits.

There are no formal entry requirements, but candidates should be practising or potential first line managers with two years full-time (or three years part-time) work experience, and a background which will enable them to benefit from the programme

NHS candidates who have completed the LEO programme can participate in a 9 hour top-up programme to achieve the ILM Level 3 Award in First Line Management.
