Level
4 Award in Management
This
qualification is for individuals who are likely to be either practising
or aspiring middle managers, particularly those who are already in post
but have had little or no formal training. It is also intended to act
as a bridge between Level 3 and Level 5 qualifications, preparing candidates
for the more rigorous demands of study at a higher level.
Candidates
may be working in almost any environment; factories, offices, hospitals,
call centres, building sites, shops, leisure centres, the armed forces
etc. Wherever people and resources are employed, middle managers with
an ILM Level 4 Management Qualification will ensure that they are employed
effectively.
The
course is short and flexible and consists of 32 guided learning hours
which can run over five days or over a longer period up to a maximum of
1 year. The learning hours include a short induction, one-to-one tutorial
support and 5 six hour workshops covering a range of subjects including;
Understanding the Management Role and Developing Management Skills.
Assessment
consists of a work- based assignment and short unit assignments. Successful
candidates will be awarded the ILM Level 4 Award in Management and a minimum
of 8 credits.
There
are no formal entry requirements, but candidates should be practising
or potential middle managers with a background that will enable them to
benefit from the programme. Most benefit will be gained if candidates
have prior experience of management at first line management level, though
this is not essential.
