Work Experience Programme
The aim of this programme is
to enable students to undertake long-term vocational training alongside
their academic study. The vocational sectors available to students are
diverse and can include: construction, plumbing, retail, car maintenance,
childcare, elderly care and catering. Whilst undertaking their work experience
it is hoped that the student will develop the essential skills and attributes
which will further their chances of employment in the future. Not only
will the student develop skills in sector specific areas but have a clear
understanding of the health and safety requirements required to maintain
a safe working environment.
Recruitment and selection will
be by interview by both Prospect Training and the employer. Students will
participate in the course for up to five days per week. Each course will
last for one academic year, however, where requested this can be extended
as well as students joining the programme at anytime during the academic
year.
Prior to the programme starting the student
will have a one-to-one interview with a designated member of staff from
Prospect Training. The purpose of this interview is to discuss the young
persons preferences regarding occupational areas, travel to work distances
and arrangements etc. After this interview a further interview with an
employer will be arranged. If this interview is successful a start date
will be agreed. Students will be offered up to three possible interviews.
However, if all three are unsuccessful the situation will be reviewed
and liaison with the school will take place.
