Work Experience Programme
The
aim of this programme is to enable students to undertake long-term vocational
training alongside their academic study. The vocational sectors available
to students are diverse and can include: construction, plumbing, retail,
car maintenance, childcare, elderly care and catering. Whilst undertaking
their work experience it is hoped that the student will develop the essential
skills and attributes which will further their chances of employment in
the future. Not only will the student develop skills in sector specific
areas but have a clear understanding of the health and safety requirements
required to maintain a safe working environment.
All
students will be monitored for attendance and progress on a weekly basis.
The school will be provided with the findings of each review. In addition
students occupational competence will be assessed against national standards
every two weeks.
All
students will have the opportunity to work towards an NVQ level 2 in the
NCFE Employment Award. Other sector specific qualifications are available
on request.
Prospect
Training will pay PPE and travel costs incurred by students and an invoice
will be sent to the school for reimbursement.
Where
a student exits the programme for whatever reason before the start of
their work experience a cost of £250.00 only will be incurred for the
work undertaken by Prospect Training. However, once a student embarks
on work experience the school will be charged monthly in arrears for all
activities undertaken during that period.
